Dr. Oluwatobi Joseph Alabi

Postdoctoral Research Fellow, University of Johannesburg

Dr. Oluwatobi Joseph Alabi is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Sociology University of Johannesburg. His research interest span through gender and sexuality; family and reproductive health; poverty and inequality; education; and youth and development. 

He has taught at the Department of Sociology, University of Kwazulu-Natal and the Centre for General Education at the Durban University of Technology South Africa. Dr. Alabi has several academic publications in international peer-review journals like Global Public Health, Sage Open, International Journal of Gambling Studies, Journal of Medical Sciences, Alternation, Contemporary Perspective in Family Research among several others, this also include a list of book chapters.  

His scholarship has attracted several grants: in 2021 he was awarded the Global Excellence Stature postdoctoral fellowship by the University of Johannesburg; between 2018 and 2020 he was on the UJ-Commonwealth scholarship for doctoral study; in 2019 he was awarded the International Sociology Association (ISA) grant for Doctoral Laboratory in Spain; he benefited from the South African Sociology Association (SASA) grant for Doctoral Laboratory in Cape-Town South Africa in 2018; and, between 2016 and 2017 he was awarded the University of KwaZulu-Natal Academic Excellence grant.
